CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING RECONFIGURATION OF THE COUNTY ROAD 6 <br />AND OLD CRYSTAL BAY ROAD INTERSECTION. <br />WHEREAS, The City of Orono and the Orono School District have received numerous <br />complaints and concerns about the safety of the intersection during school drop off and pick up <br />periods; and <br />WHEREAS, The intersection does not meet the necessary warrants to be signalized; and <br />WHEREAS, Congestion at the School entrances along Old Crystal Bay Road creates <br />backups at the County Road 6 and Old Crystal Bay Intersection which in turn limits visibility for <br />those motorists make left turns onto or off Old Crystal Bay Road; and <br />WHEREAS, The City of Orono wishes to conduct a trial of a right in right out <br />configuration of the intersection to assess improved safety; and <br />WHEREAS, The City of Orono is working toward reconstruction of Old Crystal Bay <br />Road between CSAH 6 and CSAH 112 and wishes to incorporate and lessons learned from <br />testing the Right in Right out concept in to the design; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council does hereby <br />request Hennepin County to temporarily reconfigure the intersection to a right in right out only. <br />FURTHER, that the reconfiguration, including markings, temporary barriers and signage <br />be in place no later than August 18th, 2017 prior to the start of the new school year. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, at a regular meeting held <br />May 8, 2017. <br />ATTEST: <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br />
