Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to consider the Orono Public Schools request for a <br />Conditional Use Permit amendment to permit the construction of a maintenance garage and the after the <br />fact construction of an outdoor "kitchen". <br />2. Minnesota Statutes 15.99 Deadline. This application must be acted on by June 18, 2017 <br />3. Background/ Summary. Orono Public Schools (OPS) is proposing the removal of two small garage <br />buildings and replacing them with one large pole type building, to be connected to an existing building <br />generally west of the intermediate school and south of the football stadium. Also, OPS desires approval <br />to retain an outdoor patio and kitchen (built-in grill and countertop) associated with an existing pavilion <br />on the west side of the property. <br />The new building would be approximately 6,144 sq. ft. within a lot that is over 32 acres in size. <br />Approximately 3,500 sq. ft. of asphalt will be added, replacing gravel in the area of the new building. <br />The increase in hardcover is .001% of the lot area, and no additional hardcover within 150 feet of Lake <br />Classen. <br />4. Planning Commission comment. The Planning Conunission reviewed the request at their meeting on <br />May 15, 2017. The Commission had no concerns with the proposal. <br />5. Public Comment. No comments for or against the proposal have been received. <br />6. Staff Recommendation.
