AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 10 <br />Item Description: Navarre Park Sports Court <br />Date: May 14, 2018 <br />Presenter: Adam T. Edwards, P.E. Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this council action is to gain council approval by way of a resolution for a <br />grant application requesting matching funds to construct a new sports court at the Navarre Playground. <br />2. Background. The Orono Parks Commission is seeking to replace the current basketball court at <br />Navarre Play ground with a multi-purpose sports court. To help offset the cost of the project the <br />commission request the city submit a grant application to the Hennepin County youth sports grant <br />program. <br />3. Project Scope. Demolition of the current basketball court and construction of a multi-purpose sports <br />court. <br />4. Cost. The City Solicited and received two quotes form the demolition of the existing court and <br />construction of the new. The Lowest quote was from MillzHouse. Additional work such as landscape <br />restoration will be performed by Public Works. <br />Contractor <br />Quote <br />MillzHouse <br />$17,860.00 <br />Sport Court of MN <br />$22,452.78 <br />5. Funding. Up to $10,000 will be provided through the Hennepin County Grant. Funding for the City <br />cost share for the project would come from the Parks Fund. The fund's project 2018 end of year balance <br />is $755,246. <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I reconu-nend that the council accept the quote from for MillzHouse for <br />$17,860. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the quote from MillzHouse for $17,860 to install a concrete border for the Antoine Park <br />Playground. <br />Prepared By. <br />Reviewed By: <br />Approved By: -TV <br />
