EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS <br />Employment Benefits <br />Employee benefits mentioned in this section apply only to those employees hired for <br />regular, full-time positions and specifically exclude seasonal, contract, part-time, temporary or <br />volunteer employees, except when such groups are expressly included by the provisions of this <br />policy. Regular employees who are hired for positions requiring less than full time may be <br />granted certain employee benefits enumerated in this handbook as determined by the City <br />Administrator and City Council and as may be required by law, provided that the granting of <br />such benefits will be based on a ratio of the employee's actual working hours as compared to <br />full-time position of two thousand eighty (2080) hours per year unless otherwise required by law. <br />Employee Insurance <br />The following insurance policies are available to City employees: <br />a. Life Insurance; <br />b. Long-term Disability Insurance; <br />C. Dentallnsurance; <br />d. Health Insurance; and <br />e. Short -Term Disability Insurance. <br />The City Council shall establish by resolution from time to time providing a lump sum <br />amount for eligible employees, which the employee may apply towards any of the available <br />insurance options. The employee may be paid all or a portion of the lump sum in lieu of <br />applying the funds towards an insurance benefit, provided the employee can show that the <br />employee is covered through an alternate policy, e.g. through a spouse's insurance plan. <br />Eligibility for Insurance <br />Full-time and part-time employees working thirty (30) or more hours are eligible for <br />insured benefits. <br />The above referenced full-time and part-time employees will be covered on the first day <br />of the month following employment with the City. <br />Changes in Coverage <br />The employee is responsible for notifying the Payroll Clerk of any changes that the <br />employee wishes to make in the employee's insurance coverage or retirement plan, such as: <br />a.
