PART 1 DIVISION 9 - FINISHES <br /> Nelson Orangery 9415.00 <br /> October 3, 1994 2 <br /> F. PROTECTION AND CLEANING <br /> 1. The Contractor shall exercise all care necessary to protect the stucco from damage by <br /> exposure to the weather. Sufficient care through the use of overcloths or other approved <br /> methods shall be exercised by the Contractor to avoid spattering or injury to other work or <br /> equipment. <br /> 2. A minimum temperature of 550 F is required for stuccoing. Protect stucco from freezing <br /> or overly-rapid drying. <br /> 3. Install accessories as shown on the Drawings. <br /> 09260. GYPSUM WALLBOARD <br /> A. STANDARDS <br /> 1. Materials <br /> (a) Gypsum Wallboard: Shall meet ASTM Standard C36 and C442 and Fed. Spec. <br /> SS-L-30D,Type III,Grade R Class 1,and Grade X Class 1. <br /> (b) Joint Compound: To meet ASTM Standard C474 and C475 and Fed. Spec. <br /> SS-J-570a,Type I. <br /> (c) Acceptable manufacturers(subject to the above specifications) are U.S. Gypsum <br /> and National Gypsum Co. <br /> 2. Installation: <br /> (a) Installation of gypsum wallboard and accessories shall conform to the <br /> recommended practices in the latest edition of United States Gypsum's"Gypsum <br /> Construction Handbook." <br /> B. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Gypsum Wallboard: To be U.S.G. 1/2 inch thickness. <br /> 2. Joint Reinforcing Tape: U.S.G. PERF-A-TAPE or equal. <br /> 3. Avoid puncturing the VAPOR BARRIER during the installation of wallboard. Repair all <br /> punctures,tears, and rips in the vapor barrier. (See Subsection 07150.1.) <br /> 4. : U.S.G. 1 1/4"type W or S-bugle head. <br /> 5. Metal Accessories: <br /> (a) Comer bead: Shall be U.S.G. Dur-A-Bead or approved equal. <br /> (b) Lead: Shall be U.S.G. No.200-B-Metal Trim. <br /> (c) J-Bead: Shall be U.S.G. No. 200-A Metal Trim. <br /> 6. Joint Corrmound: Shall be pre-mixed joint compound as manufactured by U.S. Gypsum, <br /> or approved equal. <br /> C. EXECUTION <br /> 1. All gypsum board shall be attached with screws fastened as follows: <br /> (a) Ceilings: 12 inches on center(minimum). <br /> (b) Sidewalls: 16 inches on center(minimum). <br /> 2. All accessories such as"J"bead,"L"bead,and comer bead must be nailed or screwed at <br /> a maximum of 6 inches on center on both sides,with or without crimping. <br /> 3. Finish all joints and screw depressions with three layers of joint compound. All joints and <br /> comers must have joint reinforcing tape embedded in the first layer application. <br /> 4. All joints between wallboard and"J"or"L"bead and other materials shall be carefully <br /> caulked, leaving no visible cracks between the two materials. <br /> 5. All ceilings shall receive a smooth sanded finish(same as walls);spray or rolled coatings <br /> are not acceptable. <br /> D. GUARANTEE <br /> 1. The Contractor shall repair and repaint, as required,all cracks and fastener pops that are <br /> visible and occur within 18 months of substantial completion. <br /> 09900. PAINTING <br />
