PART 1 DIVISION 9 - FINISHES <br /> Nelson Orangery 9415.00 <br /> October 3, 1994 1 <br /> 09200. STUCCO <br /> A. GENERAL <br /> 1. Work required under this Section includes furnishing and complete installation of all <br /> stucco work indicated on the Drawings and herein specified. All stucco work shall be(3) <br /> coats over metal lath. <br /> B. STANDARDS <br /> 1. ASTM C926-Application of Portland Cement Plaster. <br /> 2. ASTM C1063-Installation of lathing and furring for Portland Cement Plaster. <br /> 3. Portland Cement Manual (Portland Cement Association). <br /> C. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Metal Lath: Shall be 3.4#galvanized self4urring metal lath--Inland, USG, Ceco,Wheeling, <br /> or equal <br /> 2. Portland Cement: Shall conform to ASTM C-150,waterproof, Type 1. <br /> 3. Masonry Cement: ASTM C-91 Type 11 of the same manufacturer as Portland cement. <br /> 4. LWM: Shall conform to ASTM Specification C-206,Type 3,with no more than 8% <br /> unhydrated oxides. <br /> 5. &i: Shall conform to ASTM Specification C-35. Finish sand shall be fine white silica. <br /> 6. Water. Shall be potable,clean, and free of all foreign matter. <br /> 7. Glass Fibers: 1/2"chopped fiberglass strands. <br /> 8. Exl2ansion Joints: Keen XJIG-3 or U.S.G. No.75. <br /> 9. Dash Coat: Shall match existing color and texture. <br /> D. EXAMINATION OF SURFACES <br /> 1. The stucco contractor shall examine all surfaces to be stuccoed. Should there be any <br /> defective work,the Contractor shall be notified and required to make good such defective <br /> work before stuccoing is started. Patch defects in existing adjacent stucco finishes as <br /> required. <br /> 2. The application of stucco on surfaces shall be construed as an acceptance of the <br /> surfaces. The stucco contractor shall be held responsible for any subsequent defects in <br /> stucco work, and the work shall be replaced at his expense. <br /> 3. Install (2) layers of 15 ib.felt at all areas where plywood is used as sheathing under stucco. <br /> E. EXECUTION <br /> 1. Apply to a total minimum thickness of 7/8 inch in at least three coats in accordance with <br /> ASTM C-926-81. <br /> (a) Scratch Coat: <br /> 1 cu.ft. Portland cement <br /> 1 cu.ft. masonry cement <br /> 4 cu.ft.of sand <br /> (All mixing water shall be 1 part Acryl to 3 parts water to reduce shrinkage and <br /> cracking.) <br /> (b) Brown Coat: <br /> 1 cu. ft. Portland cement <br /> 1 cu.ft. masonry cement <br /> 5 to 6 cu.ft.of sand <br /> (All mixing water shall be 1 part Acryl to 3 parts water to reduce shrinkage and <br /> cracking.) <br /> 1 Ib. 1/2"glass fibers <br /> Note: Brown coat shall be level and free of imperfections for the finish coat. <br /> (c) Dash Coat: Shall match existing color and texture. <br />
