Rough Hardware and Fasteners: Hardware shall be of commercial quality of type and <br /> sizes required to suit conditions or as designated on the Drawings. <br /> (a) All nails,screws, and hardware exposed to the we shall be double <br /> hot-dipped galvanized,zinc coated,or stainless steel. All fascia,trim, siding, and <br /> exterior boards are to be nailed with ringshank type"Stormguard"nails <br /> manufactured by W.H. Maze Company. (NOTE: Use"Split-less"nails for boards, <br /> trim,and fascia.) <br /> (b) All joist hangers, angles,brackets, and connections are to be manufactured by <br /> Simpson Strong Tie Company or equal approved by Architect. All connectors <br /> shall be located as shown on the Drawings, installed according to the <br /> manufacturer's recommendations to yield maximum pint strength,and shall <br /> conform to ASTM 1 S26, latest revision. <br /> (c) All concrete anchors shall be by the Rawlplug Company, 200 Petersville Road, <br /> New Rochelle, New York 10802 (912) 235-6300. Use"Rawl-Stud"anchors. <br /> 5. Structural Glue: All gluing of structural members shall be done with 3M#5230, strictly <br /> according to the manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> 6. Exterior Wall Sheathing: Sheathing shall be 1/2 inch APA-CDX plywood. Plywood shall <br /> be nailed at 6 inches on center along panel edges and at 12 inches on center along <br /> intermediate supports with 8d common nails. <br /> 7. Flat Roof Sheathing: Sheathing shall be3/4 inch thick APAA Sturdi-Floor Int/Ext 48/24 <br /> with exterior glue. Nail with 8d Ring Shark nails at 6"on center along panel edges and at <br /> 10" along intermediate supports. Glue all sheathing continuously along all supports. <br /> 8. Sill Seal: Sealant shall be Dow"Ethafoam"sill sealer. Install between all plates and wood <br /> studs in contact with masonry or concrete. <br /> 9. Interior Walls: Framing shall be constructed of 2 x 4 wood studs at 16 inches on center, <br /> unless noted otherwise. <br /> C. EXECUTION <br /> 1. All lumber and woodwork must be covered, protected, properly ventilated, supported <br /> above ground on level runners, and prevented from warping. <br /> 2. Install wood blocking(2 x 6 minimum size)at stud walls for the support of cabinets,toilet <br /> accessories, equipment, shelving, etc. and also where specifically shown on the <br /> Drawings. <br /> 3. Install wood blocking as shown on the Drawings and as follows: <br /> (a) Install all other blocking required for gypsum wallboard(minimum 16 inches on <br /> center) interior wall support and all other locations as necessary for secure and <br /> sound construction. <br /> (b) Install all solid wood fire blocking required by code. <br /> 4. All framing shall be coordinated with the location of plumbing pipes, heating ducts, and <br /> electrical wiring to avoid cutting structural members. The cutting of structural members <br /> may, in some cases,be approved only with prior approval of the Architect. <br /> 5. Install roof sheathing plywood with the long dimension perpendicular to the supports and <br /> with the end joints staggered 4'-0". <br /> 6. The Contractor is responsible for the correction of minor deviations in the existing framing <br /> by furring and shimming so that all finish materials are plumb,straight, and level. <br />
