PART 1 DIVISION 2 - SITE WORK <br /> Nelson Orangery 9415.00 <br /> October 3, 1994 2 <br /> B. FILL AND COMPOSITION <br /> 1. MATERIALS <br /> (a) All fill shall be earth free of debris,cinders,combustibles,frost, ice, roots, sod, <br /> wood, cellulose, and organic materials. (No construction debris will be <br /> allowed In the filled areas.) If additional fill is required beyond the <br /> site-excavated materials,the Owner shall pay for the cost of bringing the new <br /> material to the site(all underslab and underpaving granular materials shall be <br /> supplied by the Contractor). The Contractor shall be responsible for placing and <br /> grading the material as required by this Specification. <br /> (b) All fill,where required to raise subgrades under buildings, concrete slabs <br /> supported by grade,and bituminous paving, shall consist of clean,well-graded, <br /> granular material free of organic material,debris,cinders,frost,and ice. Material <br /> shall be capable of being compacted as specified elsewhere herein. <br /> 2. EXECUTION <br /> (a) Do not place fill in water,on muddy,frozen,or frosty areas,or over debris,wood, <br /> snow,or foreign material. See compaction requirements below. <br /> C. COMPACTION: Soils designated on the Drawings to be compacted and those listed below shall <br /> be placed in layers. These layers shall not exceed the depth required to achieve the densities <br /> specified below for the complete depth of the fill. <br /> 1. Fill and backfill under concrete walks,concrete driveways,slabs on grade, and all areas <br /> within the area of the building shall be compacted to rat less than 95 per cent Modified <br /> Proctor Density. <br /> 2. Other fill and backfill designated to be compacted on the Drawings shall be compacted to <br /> not less than 90 percent Modified Proctor Density. <br /> 3. Fill or backfill around items of Mechanical, Pkimbing,or Electrical work,utility lines, and <br /> retaining walls shall be compacted as specified above for the condition indicated. The <br /> compaction of items listed in this paragraph is to be performed by the trade installing the <br /> construction involved. <br /> 4. The Owner will have a Soils Testing Company test all fill areas for <br /> compaction. The Owner will bear the costs for these tests. <br /> D. ROUGH GRADING <br /> 1. The Contractor is responsible for verifying all required subgrade levels for the top of the <br /> rough grading. <br /> 02300. LANDSCAPING <br /> A. All work shall be coordinated with Landscape Architect-Dale A. Gustafson(544-4215). <br /> B. FINISH GRADING and SODDING <br /> 1. The Contractor shall place and finish grade a minimum of C (after compaction)of topsoil <br /> over all areas where the topsoil has been removed. If there is not sufficient topsoil <br /> available from the site stockpile the Owner shall pay for the cost of bringing additional <br /> topsoil to the site. The Contractor shall be responsible for the costs of placing and finish <br /> grading of this material. <br /> 2. All turf areas of the property that are disturbed by the Work shall be resodded or repaired <br /> as required by Section 01700. B. <br /> C. MATERIALS <br /> 1. New topsoil shall be pulverized organic loam black dirt with one-third sand mixed in. <br /> Topsoil shall be free of lumps, sticks,plants, roots, stones, and construction debris. <br /> 02400. DRAINAGE <br /> A. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Roof drain shall be proposed by the contractor. <br />
