REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARCH 25, 1991 <br />( #15•)LMCD CONTINUED <br />being given to the position that the City of Orono has taken from <br />the beginning, and commended Bernhardson, Callahan, and Jabbour <br />for their efforts in this regard. <br />Council accepted the information presented by Bernhardson, <br />and took no formal action. <br />( #16)SOUTHF7EST DRUG TASK FORCE <br />Bernhardson provided Council with information regarding the <br />opportunity to participate with the Southwest Drug Task Force, at <br />a minimum cost of $3,400 to become a full participant. He said, <br />"Sta,:f is recommending that we make that contribution and <br />participate this year. During the 1392 budget process,,we.could <br />look at the possibility of upgradi-ag our participation, which <br />would bring us to a cost of $15,410." <br />Jabbour stated that he would like to have the new chief's <br />input regarding the program, before making a commitment. <br />Goetten and Mayor Peterson agreed. <br />Callahan suggested the City reject the present invitation, <br />but reconsider participation during the 1992 Council activities. <br />Council took no action. <br />( #17)1990 BUDGET AMENDMENT <br />Bernhardson presented information to Council, in response to <br />questions raised at their March 11, 1991 meeting. <br />It was moved by Callahan, seconded by Jabbour, to approve <br />the requested budget amendments to the General Fund departmental <br />budgets. Such amendments result in no increase in the total 1990 <br />budget of $2,924,010. Further, to approve the amendments to the <br />Park Fund, the Improvement and Equipment .OL::tlay Fund, and the <br />Building Outlay Fund expenditure budgets and revenue budgets as <br />presented with the increases to be financed by use of available <br />revenues or fund balance as needed. Motion, Ayes-5, Nays -•0. <br />Motion passed. <br />(#18)BRUSH CHIPPER BID AWARD <br />Goetten asked Gerhardson to briefly explain why the City <br />needs to spend $16,000 on a.chipper. <br />Gerhardson d:i_ splayed pictures showing. the chipper's <br />capabilities in handling discarded" Christmas trees and brush. <br />Gerhardson said, "The. City has been burning brush piles, that are <br />equal in size to the Council Chamber room,' three to four times a <br />year.
