Store in weatherproof storage place in such <br /> manner that it will be kept dry and its effectiveness not impaired. <br /> , E. Water: Shall be furnished by the Owner. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary hose, <br /> equipment, attachments, and accessories for the adequate watering of all planted areas as <br /> may be required to complete the Work as specified. <br /> �j F.Steel Edging:l/8k"Ryerson steel edger or approved equal. <br /> G. Wooden Pegs: Of sufficient size and length to ensure satisfactory anchorage of sod on slope <br /> � in excess of 2:1. <br /> H.It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine required quantities of plants, as <br /> � no compensation will be made for error in plant quantities. <br /> � PART 3-INSTALLATION <br /> 3.01 INSPECTTON OF PLANT MATERIALS <br /> � A. Remove defective and rejected plants immediately from the project site. <br /> � 3.03 FERTILIZING SOD SUBSOIL <br /> A.Apply fertilizer at a rate recommended by manufacturer.Apply after fine grading and prior <br /> � to compaction.Mix thoroughly into upper 2 inches of topsoil. <br /> B.Lightly water to aid the breakdown of fertilizer. <br /> � C.Apply fertilizer wit�un 48 hours before laying sod. <br /> � 3.04 LAYIlITG SOD <br /> A. Lay sod as soon as possible after delivery to prevent deterioration. Sod within 72 <br /> , hours after final grading. <br /> B. Lay sod closely knit together with no open joints visible, and pieces not <br /> overlapped. Lay smooth and Ilush with adjoining grass areas, paving and top <br /> � surfaces of curbs. <br /> C. On slopes 2:1 and steeper, lay sod perpendiculaz to slope and secure every row <br /> with wooden pegs at maximum 2 feet on center. Drive pegs flush with soil <br /> � portion of sod. <br /> D. Immediately water sodded azeas after installaiion.Water in suf#icient amount to <br /> , saturate sod and upper 4 inches of soil. <br /> E. After sod and soil has dried sufficiendy to prevent damage, roll sodded areas to <br /> ' ensure good bond between sod and soil and to remove minor depressions and <br /> irregularities.
