Cleanouts shall be of the same nominal size as the pipes they serve up to 4 inches in size (see Minnesota <br /> Rules,part 4715.1010). A cleanout must be installed where there is an increase in pipe size from 2 inches to <br /> 3 inches and from 3 inches to 4 inches. <br /> 6. It appears that plumbing may be installed in the exterior wall.Verify that provisions are made to keep the <br /> piping from freezing(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0340, subpart 4). <br /> 7. Based on a maximum developed length of pipe of 200 feet and a building water pressure of 46 psi, and using <br /> Minnesota Rules,part 4715.3800: <br /> a. The cold water distribution branch serving the water closet, the urinal, and the lavatory shall be at least <br /> 1-inch in size. <br /> b. The hot water distribution branch serving the lounge sink, the lavatory, and the four dental sinks shall be <br /> at least 1-inch in size. <br /> 8. In all buildings other than dwellings, shutoff valves shall be installed which permit the water supply to all <br /> equipment in each separate room or to each individual fixture to be shut off without interference with the <br /> water supply to any other room or portion of the building(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1800, subpart 6). <br /> 9. Dental of�ces often have a potable water connection to a model trimmer or another piece of equipment. <br /> Verify that any potable water supply connections to dental equipment are protected against backflow and <br /> back-siphonage with an air gap or approved backflow preventer(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2000 <br /> through part 4715.2110). <br /> 10. If a sterilizer requiring waste and water is provided,verify that it is indirectly connected, or provided with <br /> an air gap between the.trap and the appliance(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1530). <br /> 11. The copper water distribution piping must meet ASTM Standard B88 (see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.0520). All solder and flux used for the potable water distribution systems shall contain less than <br /> 0.2 percent lead. Use of 50-50 solder or flux containing more than 0.2 percent lead is prohibited in potable <br /> water distribution systems. Any solder other than 95-5 tin-antimony or 96-4 tin-silver must be specifically <br /> approved by the administrative authority prior to use (see Minnesota Statutes, Section 326.371). Joints to be <br /> soldered must be properly fluxed with noncorrosive paste-type flux complying with ASTM <br /> Standard B813-00. <br /> 12. Verify that the installation of the ASTM Standard D2846 chlorinated polyvinyl chloride(CPVC)water <br /> distribution pipe is in accordance with International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials <br /> (IAPMO)Installation Standards 20-98 (see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0520). Solvent weld joints must <br /> either include the use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement or a one-step solvent <br /> cement complying with ASTM Standard F493 and ASTM Standard D2846 (see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.0810, subpart 2). <br /> 13. If plastic pipe is used for the drain,waste and vent system: <br /> a. PVC plastic pipe shall comply with ASTM Standard D2665,D2949,F891. <br /> b. It must be installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0580(F)and part 4715.0600. <br /> Above-grade horizontal runs of plastic waste and vent pipe cannot exceed 35 feet in total length. <br />
