Birch Lane Drainage Improvement Project
Presentation by Public Services Director Greg Gappa to resolve the issue of Birch Lane Drainage into
yards. Several options were presented, each involving crowning the road and using curb and gutter to
keep water away from properties.
Two main options were proposed for carrying the stormwater to the lake. One involved directing all
of the water to the south. The other involved directing a portion of the water to the west through
construction of a new storm sewer pipe across three properties. The owners of the three properties
were not interested in providing easements for the new storm sewer pipe.
Mr. Kenton H. Carlson of 3498 North Shore Drive offered the solution of installing curb and gutter
and using culverts to carry the water to the swamp /wetland along the north side of Baldur Park Road.
• Mr. Ackermann of 3530 North Shore Drive objected to crossing of the three lots on the corner of
Balder Park Road and Highway 51. He suggested going farther up to the point and turn left where
the lot is too small to build on and is also quite low allowing them to put in pipes and drain to there.
