SP TESTING INC
Steven B. Schirmers -951 Katydid Lane NE -St. Michael, MN 55376
Cert. No 627 - State License #394 - Phone 763-497-3566 - Fax 763-497-5011
www.sptestine wastewaterC comcast.net- schirrn rswastewaterxom
August 5, s019
Nora Sillerud
415 Deborah Drive
Orono, MN
A compliance inspection was completed for the existing on-site sewage treatment
system located on this property. The system consists of 2-1000 gallon septic tanks
& 2 trenches 175' long each = 350 lin.ft., 1050sq.ft built in 1983 or a 5 bedroom
home.
Soil boring #1 found mottled soil (redox features) at 2.5' below the surface & the
bottom of the rock in the trench at 2.5' leaving no separation from the bottom of the
rock & redox features. Soil boring #2 found mottled soil at 2.5' & the bottom of the
rock at 2' leaving a .5' separation. This system does not meet compliance & is
classified as non-compliant under Minnesota Chapter 7080 rules. The City of Orono
requires the system to be upgraded within 3 years.
The tanks are old & will need to be abandoned pumped & filled with soil & a tank
abandonment report completed by a licensed contractor.
This onsite sewage treatment system is designed for a Type 1 system, Type 1, 5
bedroom home in accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency chapter
7080 & local ordinances.
The soils on this site are a clay loam. The seasonally saturated soil, mottled soil
(redox features) were present at a depth of 22" to 30". A pressurized mound system
will be installed. The bottom of the treatment area must be located at least 3' above
mottled soil.
A pumping chamber will need to be installed to lift the effluent to the treatment area.
The power supply & switches must be located outside the manhole & pumping
chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must be installed with a
light & sound device, this is in case of a pump failure.
