Box 66 <br /> -- Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323-0066 <br /> September 15, 1999 <br /> John Mayer <br /> Mayer Distributing <br /> 2105 Daniels Street HAND DELIVERED <br /> Long Lake, MN 55356 <br /> Re: Proposed Zoning Amendment <br /> Dear Mr. Mayer: <br /> Per Council's direction at Monday night's meeting, your appropriate method for pursuing a zoning <br /> amendment to add "petroleum bulk storage and distribution" as an allowable use in the'I' Industrial <br /> District, is through a formal zoning amendment application process. <br /> Such an amendment can only be initiated by 1)the Planning Commission; 2) the City Council; or <br /> 3) petition of the owner of the property which is under consideration for zoning amendment. <br /> Therefore, you must have the owner of the VCI property be the applicant(or at minimum as a co- <br /> applicant with you) for such amendment(see Zoning Code Section 10.10 Subd. 2, attached). <br /> Any amendment to the zoning district list of allowed uses cannot be site specific, but must <br /> encompass the entire Orono industrial zone,which runs from Old Crystal Bay Road to the east line <br /> of Washington Scientific's property (the boundary between Orono and Long Lake), from Highway <br /> 12 to the Burlington Northern right-of-way, or about 44 acres. <br /> The required submittals for the initial rezoning request application will include as a minimum: <br /> 1. Completed application form (attached). <br /> 2. $350.00 non-refundable application fee. <br /> 3. Certified list of all property owners within the "I" Industrial District and within 350' <br /> of the boundaries of said District. <br /> 4. A detailed description of your request, which should as a minimum address the <br /> following topics: <br /> a.
