� - - � VILLAGE OF ORONO <br /> Regular r�7eeting of the Park Commission, 8 e 00 P.I�i. <br /> August 26, 1974 <br /> �ze Park Commission met on the above date with <br /> the following members present: Chairman Opheim, <br /> Berglund, Burns, Hallowell, Kubalsky, Leipold, <br /> Oberhauser, and Z^�ysockye Absenta I�Zastny, <br /> Panuska, Peasleyo Also present: Jim Blumendahl, <br /> from DIJR, residents fro;n the Sandy Beach area, <br /> A1 Heinz, 1�Iinnetonka Beach, Brian Peterson and <br /> ��alter Lathrog�, Long Lake Skip Drifters Club, <br /> A ��etition was presented by neighborhood PETITION <br /> residents of Sandy Beach stating: "The Sandy Beach Parking <br /> undersigned are opposed to any changes in the <br /> i-laple Avenue swimming beach area that will <br /> make this area more attractive for motorized <br /> traffico We believe the proper use of this <br /> area is for local residents within walking <br /> or bilcing distancee" The petition was signed <br /> by 23 residents representing 15 families. <br /> Opheim explained the background of the parking <br /> problem and why the Commission was considering <br /> making more parking places. A discussion <br /> followed concerning the residents grievances <br /> on parking, garbage, noise, late night use, <br /> �olice patrol, ana the asphalt. <br /> Oberhauser moved, Burns seconded, that we do <br /> not install additional parking at the Sandy <br /> Beach area at this time. I�otion, Ayes (8) - <br /> i�Iays (0) . <br /> Ku.balsky was appointed to look into the PARKING STICKERS <br /> possibility of parking stickers for local <br /> residents. It was suggested the nolice be <br /> contacted for suggestions on patrolling and <br /> liandling parking problems, <br /> Jim Blumendahl, representing the DNR, tahich is LUCE LINE TRAIL <br /> in charge of the Luce Line Trail, discussed <br /> with the Park Commission the possible uses and <br /> iacilities of the Luce Line, including parking <br /> facilities. Discussion followedo <br /> Oberhauser moved, �^lysocky seconded, that no <br /> parking facilities be constructed at the inter- <br /> section of the Stubbs Bay Road and the Luce <br /> Line Traila I�iotion, Ayes (7) - IVays (0) . <br /> 3bstained (1) . <br /> Reasons givens <br /> lo Potential conflict between the Village of <br /> Orono and the potential park on the Larson <br /> propertyo <br /> (Continued) <br />
