'5f;'
MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH QUG 4 200
Division of Environmental Health
REPORT ON PLANS 4Y:3r-o
Plans and specitications on plumbing: St. Edward the Confessor Episcopal Church, 865 North Ferndale Road,
Orono, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Plan No. 050483
OWNERSHIP: St. Edward the Confessor Episcopal Church, 865 Noth Femdale Road, Orono,
Minnesota 55323
SUBMITTER(S): Gilbert Mechanical Contractors, Inc., 4451 West 76th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55435
Plans Dated:
Date Received: August 4, 2004
Date Reviewed: August 19, 2004
SCOPE: This review is limited to the design of this particular project only insofar as the provisions of the
Minnesota Plumbing Code, as amended, apply, and does not cover the water supply or sewerage system to which
this plumbing system is connected. The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is
based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The
responsibility for the design of structural features and the eiticiency of equipment must be taken by the project
designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report.
Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance
with the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans and specifications should
be retained at the project location for future reference.
A set of the identii-ied plans and specifications is being returned to Gilbert Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of
the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2830, no plumbing work may be
covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made for applying an air test
at the tirrie of the roughiug-in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules, part 47152820, subpart 2, of the code.
A manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 47152820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the
finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the contractar/installer to notify the Minnesota
Department of Health when an installation for a state contract job, licensed facility, or project in an area where
there is no local administrative authority is ready for an inspection and test. To schedule inspections, contact the
state plumbing standards representative far your region, or call the metro office inspection hotline at 1-800-926-
6216 (7:30 a.m to 9 a.m), or 651/215-0836 (8 a.m to 9 a.m) on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
REQUIREMENT(S):
1. Elevator pit drains must discharge to the sanitary sewer through an indirect connection which precludes the
possibility of sewage backup into the pit. If a sump is used, a dry-pan drain must discharge to the sump.
The waste pipe from the sump shall discharge indirectly to the sanitary waste system through a fixture that
is trapped and vented (see Miruesota Rules, part 4715.1305). Please see the enclosed handout for specifics
on elevator pit drain construction.
2. The sump must be designed in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2440. The following items
must be included in the construction of the sump:
a. A gate valve and check valve must be provided on the sump pump discharge line, must be accessible
and located outside of the sump.
b. An air-tight cover must be provided far the sump.
3. A urinal may not discharge to a water closet vent(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2580). The urinal(s) must be
provided with individual waste and vent connections. The sanitary sewer isometric on Sheet No. P6 shows the
water closet (P-2) and the urinal (P-3) on the top floor to have corrunon waste and vent connections.
