� o� <br /> �� o 0 <br /> CITY of ORONO <br /> � � <br /> ti <br /> ��t �G�' RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> `�k'EsBo�`' No. 6 0 5 2 <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br /> HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S <br /> NEW REGIONAL 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS FACILITY <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono values public safety as a core service of government; and <br /> WHEREAS, reliable emergency communications is a critical component in the delivery <br /> of public safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono receives police and fire dispatch service from the <br /> Hennepin County Sheriff's Office,with over 17,000 police dispatch events handled in 2010 for <br /> the Orono Police Department; and <br /> � WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office currently provides dispatch to 36 <br /> entities across Hennepin County from a 60 plus year-old building in Golden Valley scheduled to <br /> be replaced in 2012/2013 with a new facility on county-owned property in Plymouth, adjacent to <br /> the Adult Correctional Facility at Parkers Lake; and <br /> WHEREAS, the new Hennepin County Sheriff's Office emergency communications <br /> facility is important to public safety. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Orono supports the <br /> construction of a new Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Regiona1911 Communications Facility; <br /> and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that due to the regional nature of this project, the City <br /> of Orono encourages the Minnesota State Legislature and Federal Elected Officials to support <br /> this project through state bonding and state and federal grants. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held this 13th day <br /> of June, 2011. <br /> ATTEST: <br /> � _'�-� ,� D�.��.;�.-. <br /> t _ Lin a S.
