o <br />o <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission, June 16, <br />1975 <br />\ <br />The Orono.Planning Commission met on the above date <br />with the following members present: Chairman Guthrie <br />Van Nest, Curtis, Hake, Hannah, McDonald, Dunlap. <br />Absent: Pesek, Wooley, Kallestad <br />The Public Hearing was opened with the request for the <br />vacation of street right-of-way by Mr, Bill Wagensteen, <br />attorney for the Eckerts who explained the background <br />of the house and the reason for this request. The <br />house extends into the street right-of-way easement <br />7-8 feet. Mr. Guthrie read the letter from City <br />Attorney regarding this matter. After discussion on <br />the different ways of handling this matter and no <br />one else in favor or opposition attending, the Public <br />Hearing was closed at 7:55 p.m. <br />Van Nest recomnended that the Village Council grant an <br />easement for the house for as long as it shall last or <br />until the Village needs the street, but that we would <br />consider a trade of not more land than the house sits <br />on on the east side of the road. <br />Hake moved, Curtis seconded tabling the matter until <br />Mr, Eckert or his attorney can come back with more <br />information. Motion, Ayes (7), Nay (0). <br />The Public Hearing for Herrick Circle request for re- <br />zoning and PRD was opened. Mr. Lou Oberhauser, attorney <br />for Herrick Circle explained the request to the audience <br />Mr. Bailey of Bailey and Associates presented their <br />concept of the PRD on this piece of property. <br />Ray Dittrick stated his interest and concern whether <br />this layout will start the Village advocating less <br />tl^ two acre settings as was originally layed out in <br />the Comprehensive Guide Plan for this area. Guthrie <br />explained that the two acre requirement was for those <br />^eas which are unsewered. This will be a sewered area. <br />j favor of open spaces as <br />in the Comprehensive Guide Plan and again ex* <br />pressed his concern of setting a precedent. <br />Van Nest stated we are trying to keep the more dense <br />development away from ihe Lake because we need the <br />filtration to keep from polluting the Lake. <br />Richard Petrin stated he agreed with hfr.
