Arne 16 2000
Re: Soil Boreings, Percolation Tests,System Design.
We were retained by Brian Kerber to provide criteria for the design and installation of an on-site
sewage system for the property located at 740 Orchard Road In the City of Orono.
This design is based on a three bedroom, type one, single family home with maximum flaw of
450 gallons per day.
A total of 6 soil borings and 4 perc tests were done. From these tests it was determined that a
high water table exists at a depth of 18 inches below the ground surface. The high water table
determines that only a mound type drainfield may be installed,to meet with code.
The soils on this site are Erin Clay Loam,ErC2, 6 to 12%Slope as identified by the
County soil map. Hennepin
The system shall consist of the following:
Two new 1000 gallon septic tanks
-One new 1000 gallon pump chamber
-675 square feet of rock bed, mound type drainfield
-Upslope length of 93.5 feet
-Width of 41 feet
Materials needed for the mound construction include:
-Clean washed sand 220 cubic yards
-1.5 foot deep upsiope
-1.8 feet deep-downslope
-Clean washed rock,25 cubic yards
-Sandy Loam soil,30 cubic yards
-Top soil. 110 cubic yards
The mound must be pressurized, therefore a pump must be installed that can pump 51
gallons
per minute with a total head of 35 feet. An alarm system must also be installed to warn ofpump
failure.
The entire area that is to be used for the drainfield shall be protected from
emy traffic to prevent
any compaction priorto and during construction. Failure to do so shall resutt this design
becoming VOID. At that lime the site may have to be tested again or an alternate site located
and testing done.
All neighboring wells are located greater than 100 feet from the proposed Tanfield site.
intoNothing other
deposed of septr'csystemGwater ,showers etc.)humanposals waste&toilet tissue should be
of more solids of a fine nature that may pass through the recommended due to the ad los
ung & hiorine may kill the bacteria needed to treat Excess amounts ptic effluent.uerrt.Adai tsoap,
kind must not be used. They may cause damage to the system. soap,
of any
it is recommended to pimp and service the septic tanks every two to three yews for maximum
life of the system.
