PART 2 MATERIALS <br /> 2.1 MATERIALS <br /> A. Seed shall be a mixture 65A per MnDOT Specification Section 3876.2F. Rate of <br /> application shall be 100lbs./acre. <br /> B. Mulch material shall be Type 1 per MnDOT Specification Section 38822. Rate of <br /> application shall be 2 tons/acre. <br /> C. Fertilizer: Composition shall be based on the result of topsoil analysis by soil testing <br /> laboratory. Fertilizer shall be mixed as recommended by laboratory,delivered in standard <br /> size bags showing weight,analysis and name of manufacturer. Store in a weatherproof <br /> place and in such a manner as to keep fertilizer dry with its effectiveness not impaired. <br /> D. Erosion Control Blanket: Shall be Category 4 blanket per MnDOT Specification Section <br /> 3885.2. <br /> PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 EXAMINATION OF CONDITIONS <br /> A. Prior to starting work verify the topsoil thickness,drainage of areas,condition of topsoil <br /> and other relevant matters. <br /> B. If site conditions appear unsatisfactory,have corrections made by General Contractor <br /> before proceeding. Start of turf work indicates satisfaction with site conditions and, <br /> therefore,the responsibility for proper results is a part of the work of this section. <br /> 3.2 EXTENT OF SEED <br /> A. Seed: At all disturbed site areas not subject to other surface treatments. <br /> 3.3 METHODS AND PLACING <br /> A. Preparation: <br /> 1. Cultivate and till topsoil to a minimum depth of 3" until it is uniformly friable. At <br /> steep slope areas,tilling shall be done perpendicular to direction of slope. <br /> 2. Rake and level to provide topsoil which is smooth,without hollows and has a fine <br /> earth surface. <br /> 3. Correct soft spots and grade irregularities. <br /> 4.
