3. Perform field density test in accordance with ASTM D1556-64 (Sand Cone Method)
or ASTM D2922(Nuclear Method). On any given project, nuclear method shall be
limited to 90%of total test number, with location mixed such that correlation with
sand cone method can be easily made. The number of field density tests required shall
be per the following:
a. One test for each 200 cu.yds. of fill beneath building or fill used for subgrade
correction, i.e.subgrade improvement and granular cushion.
b. One test for each 100 cu.yds. of backfill at building perimeter.
c. One test for each 500 sq.yds. of subgrade improvement at proposed paved areas.
d. For each isolated volume of less than 200 cu.yds. 100 cu.yds. or 500 sq.yds.
respectively, perform at least one test.
3.9 CLEAN-UP AND DISPOSAL
A. Clean-up: Thoroughly police and rake the site and adjacent areas as required to provide
neat clean surfaces. Areas outside the contract limits that have been disturbed during
construction shall be restored to original or better conditions.
B. Disposal: Haul excess excavated material, including excess topsoil, trash, debris and other
waste materials to a location off the limits of the Owners property.
3.10 EARTHWORK
A. The earthwork quantities(cut and fill)and specific soil material application requirements
will result in both significant waste quantities and import quantities. The proposed
topography and subgrade improvement will require off-site disposal of topsoil, unsuitable
soil and excess soils. Conversely, the need to improve subgrade beneath building and
pavement areas will require importing substantial quantities of granular borrow.
Accordingly, it is the Contractor's sole responsibilities to meet all earthwork
material/quantity requirements under the base bid with the exception of specific subcut and
subcut fill requirements described under the Unit Prices.
END OF SECTION
ADDENDUM#1
1607.001 - ORONO ICE ARENA(CP-2) Page 02200 - 15
