1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Utilize equipment of proper size and in good working condition to prosecute the work to <br /> full completion in a satisfactory manner. <br /> B. Utilize experienced personnel familiar with the equipment, methods and procedures for the <br /> job. <br /> C. Testing Laboratory as retained by Owner, approved by A/E. <br /> D. Testing Laboratory shall perform the following operations: <br /> 1. Inspect and approve soil conditions at bottom of all excavations; determine limits of <br /> excavation where applicable. <br /> 2. Qualify on-site and borrow soils for suitability to project requirements. <br /> 3. Observe and approve contractors operations within context of soil limitations and <br /> project requirements. <br /> 4. Choose location and conduct soil density tests on fill and backfill materials when unit <br /> prices apply. <br /> 5. When applicable, determine quantities of excavation and/or fill for payment. <br /> E. Testing Laboratory shall advise A/E of any materials or operations that will not produce <br /> specified results. <br /> F. When directed by Testing Laboratory, Contractor shall provide fill material samples for <br /> testing. <br /> G. Costs of retesting and replacement of rejected fill material shall be at the Contractors <br /> expense. <br /> H. Testing Laboratory shall provide soil/test reports before placement of concrete <br /> foundations;test reports shall be available within 24 hours of testing to minimize delays. <br /> I. Testing Laboratory shall provide a written report of all operations observed including soils <br /> analysis and compaction reports, volumes of excavation/fill when required, and statement <br /> that work has been performed in accordance with specified requirements. <br /> 1.3 REFERENCES <br /> A.
