4 <br /> PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 INSTALLATION <br /> A. Install metal decking and accessories in accordance with reviewed shop drawing and <br /> manufacturer's printed instructions. <br /> B. Place deck units on supporting steel framework and adjust to fmal position with end bearing <br /> lengths on supporting members not less than 3 inches,and accurately align end to end before <br /> permanently fastening. Lap ends of sheets minimum of 2 inches centered over centerlines of <br /> supports.Do not stretch or contract side-lap interlocks. <br /> C. Permanently fasten deck units to steel supports with fully fused puddle welds,penetrating <br /> layers of decking. Place welds in edge ribs and at spaces not exceeding 12 inches on centers <br /> between edge rib welds,unless noted otherwise. Puddle welds shall have fusion areas to <br /> supporting members not less than 3/8 inch by 1 inch or 1/2 inch diameter in size. Spacings of <br /> welds along marginal members shall not exceed 12 inches on centers. <br /> D. Fasten end closures by tack welding or machine screws at spacings not exceeding 36 inches <br /> o.c. Mechanically fasten or tack weld side closures at spacings not exceeding 36 inches o.c. <br /> E. Fasten side laps of adjacent deck units between supports at intervals not exceeding 24 inches <br /> o.c. If decking has interlocking side laps,fastenings may be button punched. For simple <br /> overlaps use self-tapping screws no smaller than No. 12. For 18 gauge and heavier decks <br /> fastenings may be tack welds. <br /> F. Cut and fit deck units and accessories around other work projecting through or adjacent to <br /> decking. Provide neat,square and trim cuts. <br /> G. Provide metal closure strips at open,uncovered ends and edges of roof decking,and in voids <br /> between decking and other construction. Weld or mechanically fasten into position to provide <br /> complete decking installation. <br /> H. •Place roof drain sump pans over openings in decking and weld to top of decking. <br /> I. Install rubber closures top and underside continuous at ends of runs of acoustic decking where <br /> noted or detailed on drawings. <br /> J. Comply with AWS requirements and procedures for manual shielded metal arc welding, <br /> appearance and quality of welds,and methods used in correcting welding work. <br /> K. After decking installation, wire brush,clean and paint abraded areas,weld burn areas,rust <br /> spots and welds on top and bottom surfaces of decking units. For decking with shop paint <br /> fmish use same paint as provided by deck manufacturer. For galvanized decking use Z.R.C. <br /> Cold Galvanizing Compound. Inspect welds for size,quality and spacing. Inspect mechanical <br /> fastenings or welding of side laps.
