Welding of Open Web Steel Joists: Technical Digest No. 8, Steel Joist Institute. <br /> 1.3 DESIGN CRITERIA <br /> A. Design: Perform in accordance with applicable codes and standards to safely support <br /> project dead loads and live loads,without excessive stress or deflection. Design joists <br /> designated as "Special" for loads specifically denoted on drawings. Size designations for <br /> "SP"joists shown on drawings are for estimating purposes only. <br /> B. Design Calculations: Performed and certified by Professional Engineer registered in State <br /> of Minnesota,experienced in steel joist design and submitted to Architect upon request. <br /> 1.4 SHOP DRAWINGS <br /> A. Submit shop drawings in accordance with Section 01300. Shop drawings for"Special" <br /> joists as indicated on drawings are to be certified by Professional Engineer registered in <br /> State of Minnesota. Shop drawings for"Special"joists shall include load diagram used <br /> for design. <br /> B. State joist manufacturer's name,sizes,types,quantities,locations,painting and <br /> accessories included. <br /> C. State field welding,bolting or other anchorages required and include instructions and <br /> details as necessary for complete installation of joists and accessories. <br /> D. Before preparation of shop drawings and fabrication of materials affected by existing <br /> construction,field verify existing elevations,dimensions and conditions as shown on <br /> drawings and report any discrepancies to Architect for resolution. <br /> 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Joist manufacturer shall be member of Steel Joist Institute. <br /> B. Design,detail, manufacture,paint, handle and erect joists in strict accordance with <br /> applicable Standard Specifications of Steel Joist Institute. <br /> C.
