The following comments outline the changes and/or additional
information that must be submitted so that we can further evaluate the plans and specifications for
compliance with the standards of this department:
1. It appears that site utility work is proposed for the Crystal Bay Business Center Building No. I,
shown on Sheet No. C8. Please clarify if Building No. 1 is to be included in this review.
2. The submitted plans show several instances of manholes and catchbasins located within 10 feet
of the buried water service. For example:
a. Catchbasin CBMH No. 108, Building No. I, Sheet No. C8
b. Storm Manholes CBMH No. 117, CBMH No. 118, and CBMH No. 119, Building No. II,
Sheet No. C9
c. Sanitary Manholes SMH No. 100, SMH No. 110, and SMH No. 120, Building No. II, Sheet
No. C9
The water service line must be installed at least 10 feet horizontally from any manhole,
catchbasin, or any other potential source of contamination(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1710,
subpart 3). This isolation distance must be measured from the outer edge of the pipe and the
outer edge of the contamination source. Clearly show all city owned and city maintained
easement locations on the plans, since all portions of the site utilities within the property lines
that are not located in city owned and city maintained easements fall under the jurisdiction of the
Minnesota Plumbing Code. Please revise the plans to show a code complying plumbing system.
This information can be provided to you in alternative formats(Braille, large print or audiotape).
An Equal Opportunity Employer
