MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY
Division of Construction Codes and Licensing
REPORT ON PLANS
Plans and specifications on sewer and/or water service connection: Crystal Bay Business Center II, Service
Connections, 2725 Wayzata Boulevard West,Orono,Hennepin County,Minnesota,Plan No. 087547
OWNERSHIP:
SUBMITTER(S): Voson Plumbing,Inc., 1515-A Fifth Street South, Hopkins,Minnesota 55343 ify
Plans Dated: April 9, 2008
co.), X 2008
Date Received: August 5, 2008,June 18,2008,May 30, 2008 pF
RoN,'
Date Reviewed: August 5,2008
SCOPE: The plans and specifications describe the water service and building sewer connections for the
referenced facility. The review is limited to the design of this particular project only, and does not cover the
plumbing within the building. The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is
based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The
responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project
designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report.
Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation are in accordance with the provisions of
the Minnesota Plumbing Code and applicable licensing requirements.
Enclosed is a copy of the report and transmittal letter to be forwarded to the project owner.
INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations, including water service and building sewers, must be tested and
inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. It is the responsibility of the
contractor/installer to notify the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry when an installation for a state
contract job, licensed facility, or project in an area where there is no local administrative authority is ready for an
inspection and test. To schedule inspections, contact the state plumbing standards representative for your region,
or call Jim Peterson at 651/284-5889.
REQUIREMENT(S):
1. AWWA C 900 PVC pipe may be used for the water service only if approved as an alternate material by the
administrative authority(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0510 and part 4715.0330).
2. The PVC plastic pipe material to be used for the building sewer must meet one of the following
ASTM Standards: D3034,F789,D2665,or F891. The installation must comply with ASTM
Standard D2321 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0530). Solvent weld joints in PVC and CPVC pipe must
include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement(see Minnesota Rules,
part 4715.0810, subpart 2).
3. All joints and connections in the storm sewer system shall be gastight or watertight(see Minnesota Rules,
part 4715.0700). Approved resilient rubber joints must be used to make watertight connections to
manholes, catchbasins, and other structures. Cement mortar joints are permitted only for repairs and
connections of existing lines constructed with such joints(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0750).
4. Draintile pipe which is directly connected to the storm sewer system is classified as storm sewer. Since all
portions of storm sewer located within 10 feet of the water service must be tested, the piping located within
10 feet of the new water service must be hard piped, relocated, or removed. It must be verified that all
draintile inlet elevations to the catch basins are above the storm sewer outlet elevations.
