(3) Grow Current and Develop New Golf Leagues. There are currently two regular <br />leagues that use the course. To attempt to increase league plan the course will target civic and <br />commercial organizations within the area. <br />(4) Expansion of Junior Golf and Adult Player Development. The course had success <br />with the initiation of a youth clinic program in partnership with Orono Community Educations. <br />The course will work to expand on this success with additional opportunities through <br />surrounding community education groups and ensuring these opportunities are advertised in their <br />spring course offering pamphlets. <br />b. The following Marketing/ Advertising items are proposed for the 2017 season: <br />Initiative <br />Why <br />"BOGO" coupon only good on weekdays <br />Help address slow periods <br />Expansion of Summer Junior Golf Clinic <br />Brings in youth who in turn bring in their <br />families to the course <br />Groupon (Revised for 2017) <br />Bring in new patrons <br />Punch Cards <br />Incentivize existing patrons to return <br />c. Vehicles for advertising. For 2017 the Staff recommends using the following mechanisms <br />to advertise. The estimated cost of these items is $3000 which is an $2000 increase over the <br />current course advertising budget. <br />Publication/ Mechanism <br />Target <br />Minnesota Golf and Living Tee <br />Avid Golfers who may not be familiar with what we <br />Time's Publication <br />have to offer. <br />Sun/Sailor/Laker Newspaper <br />Surrounding communities <br />Community Education Publications <br />Novice golfers, Youth, Families <br />(Mound-Westonka, Orono, and <br />Wayzata) <br />Out of Home Advertising <br />restaurant and bar consumers <br />(B ackboardgroup. com) <br />Improved Golf Course Website and <br />Existing patrons <br />other social media to publish "real <br />time" news and golf and <br />merchandise promotions <br />Groupon <br />Potential new customers <br />8. COURSE GROUNDS AND FACILITIES. The primary assets of the Golf Course are the <br />Course Greens and the Club house. The City maintains and operation Budget to provide of the <br />routine maintenance of these assets and maintains a capital Improvement Plan to budget for and <br />plan for capital improvements and replacements. The budget and CIP are updated annually as <br />part of the overall City Budgeting process. <br />Orono Budget - 2017 Attachment J <br />
