MEMORANDUM
TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: DIANE TIEGS, CITY CLERK
SUBJECT: COUNCIL PACKET INFORMATION AND ELECTRONIC PACKETS
DATE: JANUARY 25, 2016
Council agenda packet information and going paperless have been a topic of discussion for some
time. Staff has researched the type of equipment and software that could be considered for
paperless agendas, costs, savings, and the advantages of paperless agenda packets.
The agenda packet would be available earlier than the traditional paper packet allowing more
time for Council to review the agenda items. The City currently uses the Granicus software for
the Council meetings and this is an opportunity to take advantage of the ilegislate application
already included with Granicus. Council would be able to use android or Wad tablets with
ilegislate. However some features will not work on an android tablet.
The following information is attached for Council review:
• Council Agenda Packet Content
• Previous Paperless Agenda Discussion Notes
• Cost Comparison Paper vs Electronic
• Granicus and ilegislate software
• Android and Wad Tablet Pricing
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends moving forward with electronic packets using an android or iPad tablet. The
cost per tablet will be determined by the tablet features desired. Granicus software is
recommended for downloading the agenda to take advantage of the ilegislate application at no
additional fee.
