Orono Zoning Permit Application Project at 4731 North Shore Drive, Orono MN Date:June 15,2015 Background: When we bought this house from the builder there was a rough-cut steep walkway cut into the hill to provide access to the lake shore.This walkway is not suitable for walking to the lake due to steep slope, uneven ground, no level path,slippery when wet,no footholds and lack of steps. It is a safety hazard and several people have slipped and fallen while walking to the lake resulting in ankle and knee injuries. Project Description: We need to build a stairway/steps along the existing walkway to access the lake safely. Project objectives: • Make the walkway and lake area where existing path is located safe by leveling uneven areas and adding stone,masonry, pavers or wood steps set into the hill and a handrail to ensure safe access to the Lake. Final selection dependent on costs,stability,safety and useful life. I will be getting several bids for this project. • Use rock/crushed stone along the walkway to address erosion issues. Location: • The property was surveyed on an as built basis when we bought the house from the builder about 1.5 years ago and no changes have been made since.Attached please find the as built survey showing the location of the walkway to the lake.This work was performed by the builder under permit with the City of Orono and no changes have been made since that survey.The steps/stairs that we need to build would be along the middle of this walkway as shown on the attached survy..
