MIlVUTES OF THE
• QRUNO C'I'Y COUNCIL MEETIITG
Monday,lVarch id,2016
7:00 o'clock p.m.
9. #16-38Q3 STONEWOOD,LLC,ON BEHALF OF TASHITAA TUFAAy 1830
SHQRELINE DRNE,VARIANCES AND CONDITIONA.L USE PE1tMTT{condnued)
McMillan stated outlots will cause problems to the surnounding neighbors to an outlot because they have
to aecammodate the boat owners. McMillan stat,ed the Fox Hill Homeowners Association is there for the
16 dock owners but ttat it is aot for all the homeowners in the area. McMillan conmcnted it is a very
special, unique situation and something that a lot of people who dn not live on the lake would love to
have.
McMillan noted she worlcd with the Fox Hill neighborhood back in the 1990s when she was am the
LMCD Board. At that time the neighborhood lost three slips and they were down to 13 slips. McMillan
stated she worked hard with Mike Gaffron to get tlwse three slips back and that it is a very spocial
situation, which can cause prablems at times. McMillan cormmented she hopes the residents appreeiate it
but that it does areate same diculties with parking.
Matt Mithua, 1160 Heritage Lane, asked if the County or City could gramt permanern access off of
County Road 15.
+Gaf&oa noted Ccunty Road 15 is a oounty mad and that the City would uot be able to gapeannanent
aecess off of tat road. Ga#'fmn 8tatetypieally Hennepin Cflunty will not approve permanent access onto
a county raad if an alt+rate access is availeble and that it is a safety issue.
Flessner askad if Orono has asked Hennepin County about the ability to use the driveway on a permanent
basis. Flessner asked why the City would not support the applicant getting a driveway cmto County Road
I5.
Walsh notod the letter on the overhead is the temporary ac+eess letter received frnm the County.
?vlcMillan stated Cotuty Road 15 has a lot of ttaffic am it and that the City and County attempt to make it
as safe as possible. McMillan noted the County and City would prefer Heritage Laae to be the centrat
gathering spot for cars that are going onto County Ro$d 15tnd that nobody wants to look towards the
lake and see a driveway if they do nat have to.
Flessner noted there was a driveway there in the past.
MeMillan noted Couaty Road 15 has seen a substantial increase in the amount of traic on the rosd since
that honse was originally built.
Flessner statd yeaago the Couaty wanted to put a light at Couniy Roads 15 end 51 to help improve the
flow of traffic but that the people in Mound fought it anci the County backed nff on it. The Cotuvty also
wantecl to shut down Heritage Lane and have the access through Heritage Drive, which would have bn
okay in some respects, but it did nvt happen. Flessner stated it always is the public expressing their views
and the elective body talcing it under advise, ment Flessner stated there have been a lat of people here
tcmight explaining their concerns and that she hopes the City Council takes that into considerstion in their
decision.
