REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JUNE 27 , 1983 PAGE 4 <br /> LAKE MINNETONRA TASR <br /> FORCE - FINAL REPORT Mayor Butler noted the Lake Minnetonka Task Force Final <br /> Report was for Council ' s information only. <br /> MINNEAAHA CREER <br /> WATERSHED DISTRICT <br /> MEMBERSHIP Mayor Butler noted the letter to Gene Hickok and Mike <br /> Panzer indicating that Brad Van Nest and Tim Adams are <br /> the appointee and the alternate to the technical <br /> advisory committee of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed <br /> District . <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Butler noted that she had been invited to attend a <br /> meeting , which is going to be another review of the <br /> task force report , with the Metropolitan Park <br /> Foundation. She explained that this was a group of <br /> private individuals that loak at potential park <br /> properties and try to figure out how to raise money in <br /> order to secure those properties for the Hennepin <br /> County Park Reserve. The meeting will be held in the <br /> afternoon of July 13 , ].983 . <br /> CABLE TV REPORT Mayor Butler noted that July 12, 1983 , at 5 : 30 at <br /> Shorewood City Hall , members of the Cable TVBoard will <br /> be able to pick up copies of the responses from the <br /> providers . <br /> Mayor Butler reviewed future Cable TV Committee <br /> meetings with the Council as follows : <br /> August 9 , 19�3 at 5 : 3�1 PM at Shorewood City Hall <br /> August 23 , 1983 , at 5 : 30 PM at Shorewood City Hall <br /> September 13, 1983 at 5 : 3Fi PM at Shore�wood City Hall <br /> TRANSPORTATION REPORT Councilmember Adams reported on the Transportation <br /> Development Guide Policy Plan ' s history which was <br /> divided into four major steps : <br /> 1952 - first focus was on interstate freeway system . <br /> 19�9 - MTC was established . <br /> 1975-77 - they knocked down projections for the <br /> transportation needs . <br /> 1983 - last step which has been approved by the <br /> Metropplitan Council . <br /> Councilmember Adams noted some of the highlights of <br /> the report. The report seemed to focus on utilizing <br /> all existing investments; no grand schemes for rail <br /> systemsor newformsof transportation . He noted the <br /> tremendous effort to get the public to ride together in <br /> carpools. <br /> Councilmember Adams noted they had divided the <br /> Metropolitan Area upinto different zones. He stated <br /> they had set up the core areas around major shopping <br /> areas , which are usually the collector points . <br />
