Mrs . Hurr informed the City <br /> Council that the LMCD regu_lations allow two boats <br /> per 5�1 ' of shoreline and one boat for each <br /> additional 5�i ' . M�yor Butler stated that she <br /> felt it was discriminatory that residents with <br /> less then 1�1�J ' could have only two boats ; proof of <br /> ownership of four boats per household would be <br /> more appropriate . She a�so stated that the <br /> Water Patrol did a very efficient job of seeing <br /> that the owners of fish houses were notified to <br /> cleanup their fishing areas . Mrs . Hurr <br /> inf_ormed the City Council that late applications <br /> for multi_ple c�ocks were being fined 55� , which <br /> helped in solving the problem of late <br /> applications for the LMCD. <br /> Councilmember Adams �rrived at 7 : (�? Rossillon who were present <br /> to discuss housing for students and scientists <br /> for the Gray Freshwater Biological Institute . <br /> Mr . Shardlow reviewecl a memo he had prepared <br /> concerning the problems of_ housing that some of <br /> the students encountered . He st�ted that the <br /> Institute would like to build low-cost housing <br /> for the students and visitors to the Institute . <br /> Mr . Shardlow showed slides of the present <br /> building and the av�ilable land surrounding it <br /> where the location of the building would be . He <br /> a7_so stated that the University of Minnesota <br /> would take-overthebuildingatsomefuturedate . <br /> The area consists of 37+ �cres adjacent to the <br /> GFWBI . The building would consist of sixteen , <br /> four- bedroom units . The intentions of the <br /> Institute is to contact property owners in the <br /> Navarre area to explain their project . Trees <br /> woulcl be left on the property to act as a buffer <br /> and none of the wetl.anc3s woulc] be disturbed . The <br /> property that would not be built on would remain <br /> the propertyof theInstitutewhentheUniversity <br /> takes-over the property the new construction <br /> will be on . Some of the services that the City of <br /> Orono would provide include sewer , water , and <br /> schools which the University would agree to pay a <br /> fair price . <br />
