CITY OF ORONO <br /> Regular Meeting of the Orono Council , 7 :00 P.M. <br /> November 9 , 1981 <br /> The Orono Council met on the above date with <br /> the following members present: Mayor Van Nest, <br /> Councilmembers Butler, Frahm, and Hurr. Also <br /> present: City Planner Olson, Zoning Administrator <br /> Mabusth, City Attorney Malkerson, Planning Commission <br /> members Callahan, Goetten, and Rovegno, and City <br /> Clerk Strom. Absent: City Administrator Benson <br /> and City Engineer Cook. ` <br /> Mayor Van Nest announced that now was the time and INFORMATION MEETING <br /> place for a public information meeting concerning a Lake Minnetonka <br /> proposed moratorium for Lake Minnetonka Islands Islands <br /> under the jurisdiction of the City of Orono. <br /> City Planner Olson presented a memo regarding the <br /> moratorium dated November 5, 1981. (Pages 2-4 ) <br /> Mayor Van Nest explained the purpose of the information " <br /> meeting stating that, at present, no plans are being <br /> considered for rezoning the islands, but that the <br /> meeting was called for the purpose of getting input <br /> from the residents of the islands as to their ideas <br /> for future use . Mayor Van Nest also informed the <br /> residents :_�sent that no condemnation of property <br /> is planned1 �ut that a moratorium is necessary until <br /> a review of the islands has been made to determine <br /> the best use of the properties. <br /> Mayor Van Nest suggested to the citizens present to <br /> form a committee and present their ideas to the City <br /> Council at a later date. <br /> After all persons present had an opportunity to be <br /> heard, the meeting was closed at 7 :40 P.M. <br /> Frahm moved, Butler seconded, to adopt Ordinance ORDINANCE NO. 238 <br /> No. 238 , An Ordinance Establishing A Moratorium On Island Moratorium <br /> The Granting Of Building Permits, Land Subdivisions, <br /> Rezoning Applications, Conditional Or Special Use <br /> Permits, Variances, Or Other Authority For Additional <br /> Development On Big Island, Mahpiyata Island Or <br /> Deering Island.
