William Fenholt
Orono School District 278
685 Old Crystal Bay Road .
Long Lake , rlinr.esota 55356
ar Bill :
I am in receipt of your Feiruary 12 , 1981 , letter concerning
Orono ' s Comrehensive Plan and I wish to thank you for your
auick response . Considering the reason for the delay in
responding to our Plan, I am sure the :etropolitan Council
aiil allow adequate time for your co:rments to assure cornplete
corununication in the review process.
Bill, I 'ara very concerned with your coreu-nent ta me Wedflesday,
Fbruary 1 , 1981, concerning the City of Orono ' s Land L'se
Policy and your apparent feelings that the City, through its
iand use planning and zoning, is jeopardizing your student
popuiation count within the distrct.
Z am also very concernec with your statement that the present
chool Board is becoming more concerned with the lack oi
representation on the Orono City Council from areas within the
Orono School District, and that the present School Board is
concerned with Orono' s land use policies as they relate to
encouraging future development.
In order for us to resolve issues that are before us, I elieve
it is important for us to be objective and not alloca those issues
to overlap each other . One issue before us is the Orono-Long Lake
water matter. Another issue apparently, is Orono ' s Land Us
Policy or zonir.g.
As Z entioned to you before , I do not think it relevant to allow
your feeling wih Orono ° s Land Use Policl to interfere with
negotiating a new rater agreement with Long Lake . Unless the
Orono School Board has taken specific action concerning Orono ' s
Land Use Policy, and feel it is an integral part of furnishing
fsl 11 I1\, a /\1, 'i '>' 0 11t1\111 k 111U\ A 1 I♦ \\( I J i ' •, YI hl I( uk►. J' ' f
\111 »I
