' � �EGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JUNE 30 , 1980 Page 28 <br /> Mr . Clayton Nolby chaired the meeting and discussed ARCOLA BRIDGE <br /> items of the contract such as late penalties, (Continued) <br /> traffic control responsibilities, pollution control, <br /> and publication. <br /> Mr. Nolby stated that although the Hennepin County <br /> Board of Commissioners had not approved the contract _ <br /> as of this date . Approval should be the week of <br /> June 9 , 1980 with construction beginning the week <br /> of June 16 , 1980 . <br /> There will be two stages to the project. Stage 1 <br /> will consist of three phases. <br /> Phase I will require one lane of traffic with a <br /> temporary semaphore time actuated and will consist of <br /> 30 working days. <br /> Phase II and III will allow for two lanes of traffic , <br /> however , when the concrete is being poured, a complete <br /> closure will be necessary for the curing of the concrete <br /> but should not amount to much more than twenty-four <br /> hours. <br /> The east side of the bridge will be constructed first. <br /> The City of Orono suggested that Hennepin County <br /> Traffic Control contact the Orono Police prior to <br /> construction to inform them of the procedure of <br /> traffic control and that the project supervisor keep <br /> in contact with the Orono Police of construction progress. <br /> The contractor was instructed to verify permits for any <br /> individual filling in Orono. <br /> Stage II will begin immediately upon completion <br /> of Stage I, weather permitting. • <br /> John Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator, prepared DRAINAGE CONTROL <br /> a memo concerning drainage control for Long Lake Long Lake Blvd. <br /> Boulevard, dated June 12 , 1980 , which states: <br /> Recently, the City of Orono received from the <br /> Minnehaha Creek Watershed District a notice informing <br /> us that funds are available to improve drainageways <br /> in the City of Orono. <br /> Mr . Glenn Cook, City Engineer, and I reviewed an <br /> erosion problem on Long Lake Boulevard where the <br /> storm water runoff has severely eroded an embankment <br /> outletting into Long Lake . <br /> I discussed this with the property owner and if the ' <br /> type of improvement meets with his approval he would <br /> donate a drainage easement if necessary. <br /> (Continued) <br />
