Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Alan Olson, City Planner, prepared a memo dated PUBLIC WATERS <br /> June 9 , 1980 concernig the Department of Natural DESIGNATIONS <br /> Resources public water designation, which states : <br /> The Department of Natural Resources is in the process <br /> of identifying all �ublic waters in Hennepin County <br /> and has asked for review and comment from the County <br /> and each City. <br /> We have reviewed their preliminary map of Orono <br /> dated May 12 , 1980 and compared it to our own <br /> wetlands inventory. We agree with all their <br /> designations and suggest adding those wetland areas <br /> colored green on the map. <br /> We recommend Council approve the Department of Natural <br /> Resources ' public waters designations with the <br /> additions noted by staff. <br /> Council Meeting - June 30 , 1980 <br /> Hurr moved, Mayor Van Nest seconded, to approve the <br /> Department of Natural Resources ' public waters <br /> designations with the additions noted by staff. <br /> Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Alan Olson, City Planner, prepared a memo dated STUBBS BAY ISLAND <br /> June 9 , 1980 concerning an island in Stubbs Bay <br /> which states: <br /> In February, we briefly reviewed some correspondence <br /> between the Bureau of Land Manag,ement and the Metro- <br /> politan Council concerning Bureau of Land Management <br /> land in the metro area. One island was noted in <br /> Stubbs Bay which Metro suggested Orono may wish to <br /> acquire. <br /> On June 5, 1980 , we received a letter from the <br /> Bureau of Land Management regarding land use plans, <br /> etc . , still referencing the Stubbs Bay Island. <br /> I recommend we inform the Bureau of Land Management <br /> that our records indicate private ownership of the <br /> island, and that Orono has a flowage and conservation <br /> easement over the entire property. If there is own-' <br /> ship conflict, the Bureau of Land Management should <br /> work it out with the listed property owner. <br /> (Continued) <br />
