__- - ,r,.i i',
 ;
, . ' Page 22

, '. :--; September 11 , 1979
Mr. Walter R. Benson
Ci ty Adrni ni strator
i ____f Ci ty of Orono
`— P.O. Box 66
—— Crystal Bay, Mn. 55323
\\

Dear Mr. Benson:
This letter is in response to your letter of August 31 , 1979 transmitting
a copy of the preliminary engineering report for the Medina-Morningside
area sanitary sewer and a copy of a draft agreement between the Cities
of Orono and Medina for the joint use of the Orono sanitary sewer system
and a cost sharing for the construction of a by-pass sewer within the
City of Long Lake.
The Corrnission realizes that the interim comprehensive sewer plan for
Orono has been at our office for some time, but without the information
on intercommunity flows as previously requested, the Commission is unable
to complete its review. In contacting the City of Medina it has been
indicated that the draft agreement between the Cities of Orono and Medina,
that you submitted, has not been formally agreed upon at this time. Until
this issue has been resolved, the Commission is unable to complete its
review of your interim CSP. In reviewing the draft agreement, it has
been found that the agreement does not include the City of Long Lake or
address the issue of intercorrmunity service to the Hackberry Hills area.
It is necessary that the original agreement, between the Cities of Long
Lake and Orono that call for the disconnection of the Hackberry Hills
area from the Long Lake system with the completion of the Orono-Long Lake
Interceptor, be updated to accommodate the continued use of the Long Lake
system. This agreement is also needed before the Corrnission can complete
its review of your interim CSP.
If you have any questions in this regard, please call.
Very truly yours,
,") -, ;!
. . ._ - r "^ ;' ,. , _ - _ _
Bernard J.
