In this letter, you request information on <br /> � � delays in the project and information as to the schedule for completion <br /> ! of the work. <br /> i In bringing you up to date on this contract, I will review the recent events <br /> ' that have led to delays, in completion of that part of the force main planned <br /> ! on the centerline of County Road 15 from station 6+58 (just south of the <br /> Q //,� j intersection of Orono Orcharri Road) to station 75+00 (at the intersection <br /> ���1 ; of County Road S 1) . <br /> v <br /> � <br /> ,� �C/ n May 8 , 1979 , the Contractor claimed an extra due to a portland cement <br /> G � crete pavement under the existing bituminous surface at the above <br /> G!.. <br /> Cj�,y �'__I9J ; � ation. The concrete pavement was not shown in the contract documents. <br /> 9 � <br /> pF � <br /> � The Engineers investigateci various alternatives to solve the problem <br /> �RO�,O i including shifting the alignment towaid the lake side of County Road 15. <br /> � It was decided to stay on the planned alignment and to enter into Change <br /> � Ord er No. 1 with Johnson Bros . to reimburse them for extra costs due to <br /> . ; the existence of the concrete slab. This Change Orrler was approved by <br /> ; the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission at its meeting of July 14, 1979. ' <br /> � Change Orcier No. 1 provides for unit prices for removing the underlying <br /> � concrete pavement and for additional sawing of the concrete pavement. <br /> ! It also provides for a heavier bituminous pavement in the re-surfaced <br /> � trench. The modifications in this change order are based on the require- <br /> � ments of the Hennepin County Highway Department.
