PROBLEr�* (Continued) On ��Tecinesday, PSay 2, 1979 , I invited tir. Yorks to attend our meeting with the State Dist�ict Traffic Engineer to allow him to provide input to the State. The results of that meeting were : - the State will initiate a study in the Casco Point area and report back to us within 20 days with their recorinendation on sPeed limit rec�uirements. The State law dictates that any speed lir.lit reduction on any City street must be approved by the State Traffic Engineer unless the area in question is within a school zone w!�ere children gather. I recorir.iend that we review all of the requests when the Traffic Study is conpleted (P4ay 22, 1979 Council meeting) and then call a public hearing for all the Casco Point residents. There are 207 residences in the Casco area. By examining the petition and the Casco Point meeting held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 39 residences are accounted for. It appears that when considering that 190 of residences have expressed desires to have traffic controls in the area, we should request comments from other residents in the area also. Council Meeting - r2ay 8, 1979 Butler moved, r4assengale seconded, to accept the above report concerning the Casco Point traffic problem. Motion, Ayes (5) - 21ays (0) . Dick IIenson, City Adr.iinistrator, presented the City HEI1rdEPIN COUNTY PROJEC'. Council with a list of Iiennepin County projects. Of particular interest to us are the Projects included in their 1979 Bituminous Program and the 1979-83 Bridge Construction. The 1979 Bituminous Program is self-explanatory. Added to that will be safety improvements at the inter-section of our new street (P�i.S .A. Project) C.S:A:H. 6. The 1979 Spot Safety Ir.tprover�ent also include �•�oodhill Drive at C.S.A.H. 15. The 1979-83 Bridge Construction includes the bridge at the Arcola Channel which is to be bid in 1979, construction in 1980. The bridge at the Plarrows Channel is to be bid in 1980, construction in 1981. Not included is the Hendrickson bridge which is to � be bid in 1981, resurfaced in 1982. (Continued)
