Alan Olson, City Planner, entered into the record REDEPIPTION - TAX FORFE= a rlerno concerning redemption of tax forfeit lands PROPERTY dated I�arch 6, 1979 , which states: Recently, the City was served notice that several parcels of land owned by the City were tax delinquent and �aere infact going to be forfeited if the taxes were not paid by �iarch 12 , 1979. The service on one parcel (i4elin on Ton}:aview Lane) is thought to be in error as the Citv has no kno�aledge of an interest. Staff intends no action on tliis parcel. The other parcels are 1) Casco Park, and 2) The Nature Trail Park (t��o parcels) on North Shore Drive/Park Avenue. The Casco Park problem comes from an ap�arent failure to file an abatement when the land was acquired in late 1971. Also, taxes due for 1972 should have been paid but were not: 38-43300-6150 - 1972 - $1,526. 35 - 1973 - 1, 524. 20 - 1974 - 1,527. 32 - 1975 - 1, 600 . 93 Total $6 , 178. 80 + Sheriff Fee = $6, 196 . 80 The City probably will have to pay the 1972 ta��es _ although abater.ients have been filed for all years. In order to redeeri the property by March 12 , 1979 , the total amount has to be paid for which the City _ will get a refund of all amounts abated. . The 2lature Trail problem cor,tes fror.l an apparent failure to gay the 1972 taxes when the property was acquired: 38-41307-0225 - 1972 - $ 14 . 70 + Sheriff Fee = $ 32. 70 - 1972 - 1, 068. 86 + Sheriff I'ee = 1, 086 . 86 Total $1, 119. 56 This amount will probably have to be paid although � again abatements are being filed and the City r_►ay get a refund. I recommend Council approve payr.►ent of $6, 196. 80 for Casco . Park and $1,119. 56 for the Nature Trail to assure redenption of the properties. (Continued)
