Alan Olson, Citv Planner, entered into the _ VARIANCE <br /> record the following variance request of Paul 1388 Park Drive <br /> Clabo, 1388 Park Drive, dated Nover.iber 20 , 1978 , #438 <br /> which states : Paul Clabo <br /> Mr. Clabo requests a variance for lot area and <br /> lot width for Lot 18, Block 13, Saga Hill, to <br /> build a house. The lot has been assessed one <br /> hookup and one sewer unit charge. The surrounding <br /> lots have been combined and are not available for <br /> sale. <br /> Staff would like to call attention to the steep <br /> grade along street access line. Applicant should <br /> consult with the public works director concerning <br /> a curb cut for entrance. Mr. Clabo should be <br /> advised that once a variance is granted, the City <br /> will not consider future variances. <br /> Zoning District LR-1B <br /> Lot area variance - 34. 452 <br /> Required: 43, 560 sq, ft. <br /> Existing: 8, 305 sq. ft. <br /> Variance: 35,255 sq, ft. = 800 <br /> Lot width variance - 34.452 <br /> Required: 140 ' <br /> Existing: 55 ' (at building site) <br /> Variance: 85 ' = 60g <br /> Planning Commission P�Ieeting - November 27, 1978 <br /> Planning Commission moved to recorune�d approval of <br /> the application for lot area and lot width variances <br /> for Lot 18, Block 13, Saga Hill. Hardship claims <br /> were no other land available and a sewer assessment <br /> against lot because a house-cabin had been there <br /> at one time. Mr. Clabo had the structure rermoved <br /> because it was unsafe. <br /> The vote was four to two in favor of the motion. <br /> The minority opinion was that the lot was "decidedly <br /> too small" to support a single dwelling. <br /> Council Meeting - December 18, 1978 <br /> Mr. Clabo was present and stated that he had purchased <br /> the lot in 1969 as a buildable lot, removed-t�e <br /> house to improve the appearance of the area, and that <br /> sewer had been assessed against the property. <br /> (Continued) <br />
