Alan Olson, Citv Planner, entered into the _ VARIANCE record the following variance request of Paul 1388 Park Drive Clabo, 1388 Park Drive, dated Nover.iber 20 , 1978 , #438 which states : Paul Clabo Mr. Clabo requests a variance for lot area and lot width for Lot 18, Block 13, Saga Hill, to build a house. The lot has been assessed one hookup and one sewer unit charge. The surrounding lots have been combined and are not available for sale. Staff would like to call attention to the steep grade along street access line. Applicant should consult with the public works director concerning a curb cut for entrance. Mr. Clabo should be advised that once a variance is granted, the City will not consider future variances. Zoning District LR-1B Lot area variance - 34. 452 Required: 43, 560 sq, ft. Existing: 8, 305 sq. ft. Variance: 35,255 sq, ft. = 800 Lot width variance - 34.452 Required: 140 ' Existing: 55 ' (at building site) Variance: 85 ' = 60g Planning Commission P�Ieeting - November 27, 1978 Planning Commission moved to recorune�d approval of the application for lot area and lot width variances for Lot 18, Block 13, Saga Hill. Hardship claims were no other land available and a sewer assessment against lot because a house-cabin had been there at one time. Mr. Clabo had the structure rermoved because it was unsafe. The vote was four to two in favor of the motion. The minority opinion was that the lot was "decidedly too small" to support a single dwelling. Council Meeting - December 18, 1978 Mr. Clabo was present and stated that he had purchased the lot in 1969 as a buildable lot, removed-t�e house to improve the appearance of the area, and that sewer had been assessed against the property.
