T <br /> ..�� : - CITY of OR�l� O <br /> � Post Office Box 66•Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323•Municipal Offices <br /> �� <br /> �_��:_ � On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka <br /> � �:.`,- _ <br /> T•�CC� P" J�,.:.� <br /> November 14, 1978 . <br /> Mrs. Debbie Stinson <br /> City Clerk - <br /> Long Lake, Mn. 55356 <br /> Dear Mrs. Stinson: <br /> On September 14, 1978 you were sent the 1979 contract for law <br /> enforcement for reviewal and approval by your Council before <br /> Octoher ]., 1978. <br /> On September 19, 1978 you were sent a letter which stipulated <br /> that the existing contract would be terminated as of January 1, 1979. <br /> On October 3, 1978 Orono' s Mayor Van Nest, C'hief Kilbo, and <br /> Finance Director Kuehn met wit�h Long Lake' s Mayor Farnand and City <br /> Attorney Vande Vegte to discuss the 1979 contract for law enforcement. <br /> Since that meeting the City of Orono has had no official response <br /> . from the City of Long Lake regarding the 1979 contract for law <br /> - enforcement. <br /> If the City of Long _Lake intends to contract with the City of <br /> Orono for law enforcement during calandar year 1979 we must have a <br /> signed contract in our office no later than 4;30 P.M. December 7, <br /> 1978 in order for it to be presented to our Council for acceptance. <br /> The City of Orono is happy to continue to provide the police service <br /> to the City of Long Lake but we must recover the costs involved in <br /> providing this service. <br /> If Long Lake intends to pursue an alternative method of law en- <br /> forcement for 1979 then we must have time to adjust our budget <br /> accordingly. <br /> Sincerely, � <br /> ������i <br /> W_g. enson <br /> Cit Administrator <br /> wB/pl <br />
