Dick Benson, City Administrator, informed the LONG LAKE WATER RATES City Council that on Februanl 16 , 1978, the Long La}:e City Council held a meeting to discuss proposed changes in the water and sewer service agreer�ent with Long Lake and the City of Orono. The Council did agree to gropose that the City of Orono maintain, operate, and assume utility costs to operate the pumpinc� station located in Long Lake. This issue did cor.le to us in 1968, after the station was put into servi�ce and a dispute follo�ved on who was to assurie these obligations, which was not resolved until 1971, when at that tir.►e, the City of Long Lake did assume the responsibliity of paying all utility and maintenance costs to this date. I have reviewed the files on this matter and have asked Bruce Malkerson to review the data with Mr. G. Marc Whitehead, who was the City attorney at that time. As can be interpreted from the February 16, 1978 rtinutes, this is all leading up to granting a reduction in water rates to our industrial and school area, which we apparently will not be - addressing ourselves to at this time_ With Council concurrence on this matter, I �vill state our position to the City of Long Lake and request a meeting with them if they so choose.
