Motion, Ayes (1) - Nays (4) . <br /> Motion failed. <br /> Dick Benson, City Adr,linistrator, discussed the • CITY OF INDEPENDENCE <br /> request from the City of Independence requesting POLICE SERVICE RE�UEST <br /> a stater.lent of interest in providing police service <br /> for that City. <br /> The letter from the City of Independence to Chief <br /> I;ilbo, dated February l, 1978 states: <br /> At our January organization meeting, the Independence <br /> �ity Council appointed a Citizens ' Advisory Committee <br /> on Police Services to: <br /> l. assess community police service needs <br /> 2, investigate alternatives to satisfying those needs <br /> 3, quanti�y those alternatives in terr.is of costs, <br /> long term cor,unitments, etc. <br /> 4, recomr_iend, if appropriate, an alternative to implement <br /> The comriittee has met twice and has now asked me to <br /> request from you and other local police denartments <br /> a statement of interest in working with us, and--if the <br /> interest is there--they further request a sar►ple contract <br /> for protection services, including a description of <br /> services pr_ovided, cost, and an implementation schedule. <br /> At the sar,ie January rneeting, the Council appointed me <br /> Chairman of Police Services, and, apart fror_1 the request <br /> of the Citizens ' Advisory Commission, I would appreciate <br /> a staternent of if and how our existin_q police could <br /> be woven into your plan.
