I-394 <br /> �aill come from downtown tZinneapolis and end at I-494 <br /> which will make a freeway into downtown P'Iinneapolis <br /> for Orono residents. The State will upgrade Highway <br /> #12 west of I-494 to the Wayzata bypass. No further <br /> construction is contemplated to upgrade Highway #12 <br /> west to a four-lane but rather Highway #212 will be <br /> the major four-lane highway to the west. <br /> P•iayor Van Nest reported on a meeting with. the t4etro- ORONO-LONG LAKE <br /> politan Waste Control Commission that was called in INTERCEPTOR <br /> answer to his letter that we do not agree with what <br /> they are saying to us concerning the sewer line for <br /> the Orono-Long LaYe interceptor. The 2SF7CC is nlanning <br /> a greater capacity and installing ii�s in excess of <br /> Orono's needs. Another agreement had been reached . <br /> concerning the PSUSA line going through Orono. A new <br /> map was presented to the City Council showing sewer <br /> service areas 7 & fi and the P�IUSA line. <br /> t'tayor Van Nest also stated that he has sent letters <br /> to Karl Burandt, John Boland, Bob P4azanec, Bernard <br /> Harrington, and Representative Searles concerning <br /> the Orono-Long Lake interceptor. <br /> r4ayor Van Nest moved, Butler seconded, to appoint APPOINTMENT <br /> Dick Benson, City Administrator, a5 an Alternate Suburban Health Nursing <br /> I2irector to the Suburban Health Nursing Service•. Alternate Director <br /> tdotion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0) . <br /> A memo from John Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator, FiACKBERRY PARK LIGHT <br /> was presented concerning lighting at Hackberry Park, � <br /> dated January 11, 1978, which states : <br /> Recently, the Park Commission requested lighting <br /> in Hackberry Park to discourage vandalism to the <br /> newly installed playground equipment. <br /> Lee Tomlinson, Park Commission Chairman, has <br /> checked with NSP in regard to one 175-watt light <br /> for f�ackebrry Park at $6. 70 per month. <br /> On Thursday, January 5, 1978 , I met with Don <br /> Flewelling, of NSP, at Hackberry Park. P�Ir. Flewlling <br /> stated that if a larger light were used and placed <br /> properly, it could serve a double purpose: a) light <br /> the playground area, and b) light the intersection <br /> of 2•saple Lane and Hackberry Hill Road. <br /> The additional cost would be $0. 90 per month or <br /> $10. 80 per year.
