REGULAR M�ETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JANUARY 23, 1978 Fage 13 t�ayor Van Nest: This is what we are doing now. PUBLIC HEARINv Ring Route Unidentified Person: Let' s look at alternatives. (Continued) County Road #6 a,nd Watertown Road, and Fiighway #12 are bad now. r4ayor Van Nest: We looked at alternatives to the north but Hennepin County dropped their proposals. No one has proposed a solution to the problem. Nothing has been done. �ae have a problem now. We cannot wait another ten years. Dudley Russell: It app�ars that you have informed everyone and I believe it is time to act. Unidentified Person: Everyone on County Road #15 moved there knowing existing conditions. Why should you move the traffic? P�ayor Van Nest: It is obvious from Hennepin County traffic studies that the situation ha_s become worse. After all persons present had an opportunity to be heard, the public hearing was closed at 9 : 25 P,r4. Councilmember Paurus suggested that if the citizens want to become involved that a citizens committee should be formed. D�ayor Van Nest commented that the City shquld not appoint such a committee but if a group of citizens want to explore this proposal in depth, they should do so before the next Council meeting. Mayor Van Nest r.ioved, Pesek seconded, to table any further action until the next Council meeting to allow the public to respond to this proposal. Motion, Ayes (3) - P1ays (0) .
