w . .
. REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JULY 25, 1977 Page 31
 A) Letter from Jim Agan and Vern Hoppe of the TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY
County Finance Division. (Continued)
) List of subject parcels.
) Model resolution for City to approve sale of
 said parcels.
• D) Copy of application form for governmental unit _
for conveyance of tax forfeit lands.
 E) Copies of portions of our section maps in which
these subject parcels are located.
•
Council might want to review the above data to
consider if they might want to acquire any of this
land.

In reviewing this list, it appears there might be
some conflict in three of the subject properties
with regard to the tax forfeit status indicated
by the County. I
•
#l. P1at 41310, Parcel 3460 Smith' s Bay shoreline
at the base of County Road #51 along County
• Road #15
#4 Plat 41360, Parcel 7600 - Long Lake access I
right of way adjacent to Murlowski's - subject
 of controversy last spring

• '23 Plat 42740, Parcel 5410 - Parking area behind
commercial establishments at Navarre - north
of County Road #15 and west of County Road #19.
It lias been my understanding that these properties
were owned by the City of Orono, but apparently
proper procedures were not taken at the time of
acquisition, or the County may have erred. In
either instance, however, we should clarify the
• situation before these parcels go up for public
• auction.
I discussed the problem with Gordy Ramm of Hennepin
County. He told me we should review as to when and
by what method we acquired this land (condemnation or
whatever) . We could then proceed with cancellation
of certificate of forfeiture or repurchase land
by paying delinquent taxes.

I am also enclosing copies of some of the minutes
and documents from previous Councils which might
be of some assistance in determining the status
of the three subject parcels in question.

(Continued)

a I
