This is erfectly legal , although
we believe, not desirable . He desires to place these boats
in proposed dry stack storage units which clearly will
contribute to improved aesthetic quality in the area. This
alone does not increase the number of boats actually on the
w property. ,
8 . Under your existing ordinances my client may, if ne so
` desires, substantially increase the number of boats presently
on the property. The exact numer of boats he could put on the
surface level of the property (probably in excess of 3'00) would
appear to be limited only by existing parking, set back and
, neight requirements. He has no desire to simply start
increasing the number of boats which could be placed on the
ground surface, but rather, to establish a neat and attractive
storage system in the event more boats are acquired for retail
 sales.
9 . Adjacent marina operators have upwards of 250 to
300 boats stored on their respective properties, over and above
boats located in slips on tne water. iIy client desires to I
remain in competition with these other marinas and tizus, is not
willing to agree to an unreasonable limit on the total number of
boats allowe3 on land at his marina. iae believe that a figure of
• 30 boats on land at any one time , winter or summer, would be
a fair and reasonable limit. This would assure the Council
that it is not my client ' s intention to "cube" his roperty
so as to place more than 300 oats on it. He could lac2
aproximately that many on land now; hence, we are not asking
for an increase, merely for approval of an alternative method
of utilizing presently existing capacity. Without such
+ approval , my client will merely be forced to spread boats all ',
over, just as his cometitors have done.
 10. Time is of the essence. The su:luner boating season is
here . Substantial economic loss will occur unless my elient
is able to utilize the dry stack units and loading equipr:lent
already ourchased. If not permitted to use these units, a
substantial sprawl will occur on this property as other boats ;
are placed in inventory by my client . Pollution will continue
• to increase in the lake, rather than diminish. No good can come
of furthe r delay in reaching a decision by this body.

 .
s

•
•
•
