 Page 21
 Page Two
rlembers of the City Council
Re : IJorth Shore Drive Nlarina
June 13 , 1977

Th2 units can be asseinbled as two-tiered units , in which case the
height would be 18 ' instead of that set forth above. I•1y
client is willing to erect two-tiered units as we have been told that
this is desired by you, as opposed to three-tiered units
originally planned. The installation of an optional roof-type
• covering would add 7 ' to either such unit.
4 . These units can be erected as individual free-standing
racks and should be placed on small concrete footings to assure
 long-term stability. -•
5 . A cross-sectioned topographical :nap of the Marina property
aould apear as a concave arc extending from the surface of
North Shore Drive Road down to the main level of the marina
• property some 4 ' above the lake level. riy client is willing to locate
the dry stack units as far away from the lake as is functionally
possible and to recess them into the upper end of the concave
are so that the tops of such units will be substantially lower
than the roadway surface. In addition, my client is willing to
install at his own eapense approriate shrubbery along three
sides of each unit so as to shield the units from view by users
• of the roadway and from any abutting homeowners. The
objective ere is to make the dry stack units as unobtrusive as possible
to the aesthetic quality of the area.
6 . My client is presently authorized to have 98 rental dock.
slips in the lake , which he has. He has 5 service boats in
slips. In addition, he has 36 boats for sale on the ilarina
property. We are not here concerned with the number of boats
in the water, except to the extent that my client is willing
to remove from the water 20 of the 98 rental dock slips in
conjunction with his installation of dry stacks. While this
body does , in art, by licensing, regulate the number of slips
that my client has, a reduction in the number of water rental
slips, as proposed, seems consistent with this political
subdivision ' s verbalized policy of reducing the number of boats
actually resting in the water, as ell as the LMCD' s desire
• to remove boats not in actual use from the lake as notential
pollution sources .
7 . y client has a lawful right to reasonable use of his
+ marina property as a commercial business . Presently, boats are
