I4otion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) ,
Henry PZuhich, Building & Zoninq Administrator, PETITIONS
informed the City Council that the City is in Ducks
receipt of a petition that states:
 Ghom It nZay Concern o
We, the conrned residents of the North Arm
a.rea of Lake Iiinnetonka, in the municipality of
Orono, do hereby request of the City of Orono,
the Lake Tdinnetonka Conservation Committee, and
the State of Minnesota to refrain a PZr, Howard
hite of Cherry Avenue in Orono to refrain
• froni the raising and feeding of ducks and geese
at all times. [le feel that this is a health
azard in both the summer and the wintere As
this feeding of birds is done adjoining to a public
bathing beach, it has brought about very unsanitary
swiruning conditions, not to mention what these
birds do with their excrement on docks and lawns
in the neighboring area. By maintaining open
water in the winter time, it creates a dangerous
a.ea for young children playing and skating on
nearby ice, It also leaves open water from the
public access to the lake.
We have no objection to a few birds, but birds now
nmber in the many hundreds and ae feel that this
area of Lake Minnetonka was not intended to be
a game refuge. Immediate action on this situation
 requested.
(Continued)
